Review existing desludging practices and options for 'difficult' areas

'Difficult' means:

  • The facility is hard to access: narrow lanes, bumpy roads, steep slopes;
  • The sludge is hard to remove: thick sludge mixed with rubbish;
  • The sludge is hard to access in the pit: small drop hole, fragile drop hole (i.e. mud slab), unlined pit (may collapse during emptying), small door, low roof (hampers fishing), etc.
